Benjamin Britten Centenary

The British Council and the Britten Pears Foundation are working together on a rich programme of events celebrating the centenary of the birth of Benjamin Britten. The British Council supported Britten and his music throughout his career, and though his international stature ensures his place in the repertoire in many parts of the world, there are still territories where help from the British Council can make an important difference. We have commissioned a series of Britten Posters highlighting different aspects of the composer's life and work, for distribution and presentation at major venues nationally and internationally. A series of screenings of a selection of GPO documentary films with music by Britten and other documentaries about the composer and his work are also being organised in several countries around the world.
