Award winning alto-saxophonist and MC, Soweto Kinch, will be performing at the second edition of the Safaricom International Jazz Festival in Nairobi, Kenya. Hailed as one of the most exciting and versatile young musicians in both the British jazz and hip hop scenes, Soweto has developed an award winning career that has included two UMA Awards, two MOBO Awards for best Jazz Act, and a Mercury Music Prize nomination.
Safaricom International Jazz Festival launched in 2014 featuring artists from Kenya and around the world. In 2015, the festival will be take place over one week, across multiple venues, showcasing the best in emerging and acclaimed talent in Africa and beyond. It will culminate on 22 February 2015, at the Ngong Race Course.
Soweto will be performing as part of the opening of the festival on Monday 16 February 2015 at the the Michael Joseph Centre.
