For the last three months, our six SRA Selector students have been presenting their own version of The Selector on their respective university radio stations. Following on from their brilliant two days of training at Folded Wing, the students have been able to put into practice what they learnt and continue developing as broadcasters. Each of them then submitted their best show so that team Selector could judge who had done the best job. The six students were ...
Jen Thomas - Fly FM (Nottingham)
Ollie Brookes - URB (Bath)
Tanya Pilikian - LSR (Leeds)
Benedict Jones - Spark (Salford)
Leah Davis - Insanity (Royal Holloway)
Cassidy Baillie - BLAST (University Of West London)
And we're delighted to announce that this years winner is Cassidy Baillie! Here's Cassidy in action on his show:
Cassidy's prize for winning this year's SRA Selector will be a week in Mexico, working with Ibero 90.9FM, the British Council's long term broadcast partner in Mexico City. This is a unique opportunity to broadcast on FM across a metropolis of 25 million people and also exchange experiences with young Mexican broadcasters.
Selector Programme Manager, Phil Catchpole, had this to say: "This year, our students have once again raised the bar with the standard of their shows. The brilliant training that they received at Folded Wing was evident in all of the submissions and picking a winner was as difficult as ever. Being able to utilise the unique kit version of the The Selector, which can be heard from Colombia to China, to help develop young aspiring broadcasters here in the UK is a tremendously rewarding experience for the whole team. We are very proud of all of our previous participants and excited to see how this years group progress into the industry."
