This week our six Student Radio Association (SRA) Selector students have been at Folded Wing studios in London for their specialist radio training.
Taking place over two days, the students took part in a presenter workshop, learnt how to build a radio show, interview techniques, how to make jingles and record a live session with a band. Previous SRA Selector winners, Jack Saunders and Ross Buchanan from Radio X, joined Selector host Goldierocks for a discussion on being a radio presenter with the students.
On the second day, the students performed a live broadcast using material gathered from the first day along with live radio.
The fantastic six will now go back to their university radio stations where they will present their own version of the Selector, using it's unique kit format of the radio show, employing the skills they have learnt on the training days. In April, they will each submit their best show and a panel of judges will choose the strongest entry, with the winner earning a week trip to Mexico City to work at Ibero 90.9FM in June.
The students are;
- Jamie Lee - Bath
- Christie Driver Snell - Leeds
- Anna-Louise Walter - Canterbury
- Andy Backhouse - Westminster
- Chris Lloyd - UCL
- Jess Campbell - Cardiff
Many thanks to Ian Parkinson, Micky Curling and all the team at Folded Wing for providing a fantastic experience for the students.
