Catherine Burgis

Teaching Resources Manager, World Voice

After graduating with a Music degree from Oxford, Catherine trained to teach as a Music and Music Technology teacher on the Teach First programme. She spent eight years teaching in secondary and primary schools across London and a year teaching in a primary school in Ghana. In 2011 she joined the BBC as the Learning Manager for the BBC Proms and Symphony Orchestra. In 2013 she set up Nimble Arts, a social enterprise that runs creative holiday clubs for youngsters aged 4 to 11, which offers free one-to-one support for children with additional educational needs. She has run workshops with creative organisations including BBC, The Barbican, The Omnibus Children's Festival and the London Ear Festival and worked as a music curriculum consultant for primary and secondary schools. She has also worked as a music performer and producer. She joined the British Council in 2016 as the Teaching Resources Manager for the World Voice programme.
