It is with great sadness and regret that we write to inform you that our very dear colleague, Paul Parkinson, passed away at the start of July after a long period of illness.
Paul worked for the British Council for 26 years and was a much-loved member of our team. We all have such fond memories of working with him as did many others around world. He was a loyal and supportive colleague and an inspiration to all of us. He worked tirelessly on behalf of UK music.
He was also an accomplished musician and fine composer. In the 2014 Queen's Birthday Honours List Paul was awarded an MBE for services to British music overseas and in 2015 was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. He will be sorely missed.
