Meet Michael Duffy, Our New Classical Music Programme Manager

We’re delighted to announce the arrival of our new Classical Music Programme Manager, Michael Duffy. Michael officially starts work with the British Council Music team on 20th March 2017 and will work across the team’s classical music programme as well as having regional responsibility for the Americas and EU Europe.

Michael studied Music at the University of Oxford (Magdalen College) before going on to work with several classical and contemporary classical music organisations, including the London Sinfonietta and London’s Spitalfields Music. Most recently he has worked with touring opera and music theatre company Mahogany Opera Group, leading the company’s communications and digital activity, and working on projects in diversity and equality. He also works as an independent assessor for the Clore Leadership Programme and is a member of the London Sinfonietta’s advisory group Sounding Board.

“I’m hugely excited to be joining the British Council music team, particularly at such a fascinating time globally,” said Michael. “I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and working with artists and partners across the classical music sector both in the UK and internationally.”

Cathy Graham, British Council Director, Music: “We’re really looking forward to Michael joining us. He has an impressive CV and broad experience and I’m sure he will make a fantastic contribution to our work in classical music and beyond.”
