Sian Eleri is Selector’s new host

Isn’t this the time of year for big surprises? Today on Selector Radio we’re delighted to announce that the show’s brand new host is Sian Eleri – one of the biggest music tastemakers at BBC Radio 1 – host of The Chillest Show, The Power Down Playlist, the BBC Three series ‘Paranormal: The Girl, The Ghost and The Gravestone’ and someone who’s covered Glastonbury, the Proms, Radio 1’s Big Weekend, the Welsh Music Prize and the BIFA Awards. Sian is at the forefront of the new music scene, not only as a judge on the Mercury Prize, BBC ‘Sound Of’ and the Welsh Music Prize, but she also hosts her own live music nights in London.

‘Having featured on Selector numerous times over the years,’ says Sian, ‘this feels like a real full-circle moment getting to work on the show again but this time in the position I always dreamed about.’

Sian’s zest for new music reaches far and wide – be it breaking new artists or interviewing some of the biggest faces in the scene. Growing up in Caernarfon, Sian is a proud Welsh speaker and can also be heard regularly on BBC Radio Cymru.

Sadly, this means that after more than four years, we’re all saying goodbye to the phenomenal host and powerhouse behind Selector in the recent age, Jamz Supernova.

‘There are big boots to fill with the departure of Jamz,’ says Sian, ‘however, I can’t wait to get started, bringing listeners old and new a weekly vibrant mix of genres and the freshest sounds from across the UK.’

Sian’s first official show as host will be 19 January 2024 but before then, you can catch her in conversation with Jamz Supernova on Selector’s pre-Christmas radio show. Jamz will then round up the year, and her time on Selector since 2019, in the last show of 2023 – out on 29 December.

 

Here Comes Mo

Those of you with a calendar to hand – advent or otherwise – might be asking yourselves who’s presenting Selector if Jamz’s final show is the end of December and Sian’s first at host is 19 January. Well, we have a post-Christmas present for you to enjoy in the new year. Multilingual radio presenter and international DJ, Mo Ayoub, will be Selector’s presenter for 5 January 12 January 2024.

Mo, like Sian, has also presented Selector for us several times before and is now very much part of the Selector family. He’s a multilingual radio presenter and international DJ and you can expect to hear more from Mo through the year, the year we’ll be heading back to the SXSW and The Great Escape festivals, sharing Selector on TikTok and Selector on Spotify – all to bring you the best new music we can lay our hands on.
