PIANO CIRCUS
Credit: Colin RileyFor 25 years, Piano Circus has placed workshops, performances and collaborative projects at the heart of its commitment to music education as well as seeking opportunities to introduce new and exciting music making to audiences who might not ordinarily experience it.
Piano Circus workshops aim to include a mixture of music technology, composition and performance skills in order to foster a creative environment. Designed with flexibility and a responsive approach to a variety of settings, Piano Circus workshops can be tailored for students of all ages and abilities as well as for children and adults with learning difficulties, amateur groups, schools and higher education, in the UK and overseas. The ensemble also collaborates with other performers, theatre practitioners, poets, sound and video artists, musicians and composers and artists from other backgrounds such as choreographers and dancers.
Recent education projects have included their appointment as Associate Ensemble for Young Composer of Dyfed, composition and performance workshops with SOUND Festival (Scotland) and workshops for music college students at Trinity Laban.
Individual Piano Circus members have a wealth of teaching and workshop leading experience, ranging from classroom teaching at Primary, GCSE and A level standard, to composition and performance projects with organisations such as Live Music Now! and Sound and Music.
Piano Circus has been Associate Ensemble at Brunel University since 2004, working with both undergraduate and postgraduate composers.
