Cheltenham Festivals’ Education team is committed to programming a diverse range of music experiences that are affordable and fulfil a need, many of which are open to everyone regardless of age, background or previous music experience. From music workshops in schools and concerts for schools at Cheltenham Town Hall, to opportunities for school and county ensembles to perform, for children to have a go on a range of musical instruments, and plenty more besides, there is something for everyone.
We also own a complete Javanese gamelan, and programme bespoke workshops for groups of any age, musical ability and background. A group of local gamelan players meets every week to develop their skills, and new members can join at any time. With a focus on ensemble skills, listening and singing, this beautiful music enriches all areas of music-making.
We take every opportunity to capitalise on the wealth of artists at the festivals, and are able to put children and young people in contact with some of the very best established and emerging musicians and educators in the country.
