BBC CONCERT ORCHESTRA
Credit: BBC Graham CorneyBBC Concert Orchestra is one of Britain’s most versatile ensembles. Since 1952 they have been the house orchestra for BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night, they give broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and can be heard on BBC Natural History TV soundtracks. As well as concerts at the BBC Proms, the orchestra regularly perform at the Southbank Centre and Watford Colosseum.
Working with schools, colleges and a wide range of community groups around the country remains high on the orchestra’s learning agenda, particularly in Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Devon and Cornwall.
The outreach work has a strong focus on collaboration, participation and innovation and covers pre-concert events, composition projects, workshops and mentoring as well as specially designed schools concerts tailored to the national curriculum. Each event is designed with the target audience in mind, from young school children to engaging family groups, university students and the elderly.
