ACADEMY OF ANCIENT MUSIC

Education and learning has long been at the heart of the AAM’s work — but it was not until 2010 that the orchestra formally established its AAMplify new generation programme to nurture the young artists, audiences and arts managers who represent its future.  The programme has three strands:

AAMplify audiences offers school children, students and young people aged up to 26 subsidised £3 tickets to AAM concerts. 

AAMplify artists nurtures the next generation of period instrument performers through a programme of masterclasses and intensive orchestral workshops in which AAM players and students sit side by side.  It is the only programme of its kind in the UK.

In 2013–14 the programme will develop significantly with the launch of the AAMplify Orchestra, which will give its inaugural performance at the Barbican Centre in June 2014. 

This training ensemble is being established by the AAM to provide transformative, three-year programme of professional and artistic development for the finest young period-instrument players of our time.  It will serve as a much-needed ‘bridge’ for young period instrumentalists between conservatoire and the professional world.

The AAMplify Orchestra will be directed by Richard Egarr and AAM leader Pavlo Beznosiuk.  Membership will be awarded on a full scholarship basis, with successful applicants receiving accommodation, tuition and basic living expenses free of charge.
