Paragon Play On Programme - inclusive music learning on Saturday mornings in Glasgow
Paragon Music is an inclusive music organisation based in Glasgow using music to transform the lives of young people and adults by participating in high quality music and dance performances. We create inclusive learning and performance opportunities where people from all walks of life and with a wide range of additional support needs come together, develop new skills, meet new friends and discover their true potential through a range of arts disciplines. Paragon musicians focus on developing skills in communication, teamwork, personal motivation and building a positive self image by creating and performing new work created through Paragon’s unique training programmes.
Paragon Ensemble was formed in 1980 and built its reputation as a contemporary music ensemble that commissioned new works gaining recognition for its high standard of performance and inspiring audiences of contemporary music at major international festivals and at its regular series of concerts. The Ensemble was regularly broadcast on BBC radio and made two CD recordings of commissioned works from leading Scottish composers. Over the years Paragon developed its community engagement programme providing a creative platform for “shift” in the lives of people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Paragon Music, as it is now known, continues to commission and perform new work, involving communities and individuals in the creative process and in its performances.
