RICHARD FROSTICK

Richard Frostick studied piano and singing at the Royal Academy of Music and is now acknowledged as one of the UK’s premier singing leaders.  In London he is founder and director of two music centres that provide high quality tuition for 500 children and young people.  In this role he has prepared young choirs for six BBC Prom concerts and for numerous performances on television and radio.  He was also series consultant on the popular BBC1 series ‘Play It Again’.  He now works across the country as a singing workshop leader and choral conductor.

Richard has a considerable international reputation, having worked on large-scale projects with major UK and other European orchestras in Portugal, Belgium and Croatia.  Recently his work has taken him to Brazil, India and Bulgaria as part of International Voices, to Germany for the first ‘Yeah’ Festival, a celebration of European youth music, and to Dublin to work with the Kings Singers.  In the run-up to the London Olympics he conducted Youth Music Voices in Hyde Park as part of the Jubilee Celebrations, in Trafalgar Square for River of Music, at the Royal Opera House, in Westminster Hall and at WOMAD. 

He is now Artistic Director of the British Council’s ‘World Voice’ programme, one of the biggest and most ambitious international singing projects ever to have been initiated in the UK.  In this role he recently returned to India and visited Senegal, Ethiopia, Argentina, Sudan and Jordan to lead workshops with pupils and teachers.
