SOUND AND MUSIC

Sound and Music work closely with partners around the world to develop bespoke projects involving British composers and artists, and is the national agency for new music. Our vision is to create a world where new music and sound prospers, transforming lives, challenging expectations and celebrating the work of its creators. Our work includes composer and artist support and development, partnerships with a range of organisations, live events and audience development, touring, information and advice, network building, and education.  We champion new music and the work of British composers and artists, and seek to ensure that they are at the heart of cultural life and enjoyed by many. Key projects include:

·       Minute of Listening: Aimed at primary-aged children, this app enables non-specialist primary teachers to explore creative listening through listening to 1 minute of music or sound each day.

·       Listen Imagine Compose: A ground-breaking action research project that is developing approaches to teaching composition in secondary schools.

·       Go Compose: This initiative creates a progression pathway for young composers, allowing them to develop their skills through a network of regional partners and initiatives with the most advanced attending the annual Sound and Music Summer School for young composers. 

·       Embedded: Composers and creative artists in an early stage of their careers are placed in a range of extended relationships with leading arts organisations.
