Workshops, projects and concerts take the Orchestra and Chorus to venues, schools, village halls and communities and offer unique opportunities for people to work with our musicians.
Interactive access events such as schools’ concerts, family concerts and specially devised inclusive events introduce the sound of the Orchestra to new audiences. Pupils and staff from secondary schools are able to apply for free tickets to concerts. We have a close relationship with students from higher education establishments in Wales and regular opportunities are created for students to meet musicians from the Orchestra during pre-concert as well as interval and post-concert events. Creative music projects in schools across Wales culminate in showcases featuring pupils performing alongside musicians from the Orchestra and Chorus.
An extensive music audio and visual resource featuring the full orchestra is available for pupils and teachers and has been circulated to every primary school and special school in Wales.
Annual mentoring projects for young musicians include side by side collaborations with members of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales as well as an extensive orchestral placement scheme for Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama students.
Music workshops and projects also help to nurture singing with people of all ages and help support teachers in the classroom.
