Katie Weatherall

Music Programme Manager, Selector Radio and Sub Saharan Africa

Katie started her career in the music industry as an accidental folk singer and promoter of a traditional music night in a Deptford pub. After catching the bug for creating live music experiences she took up internships in the music department at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) and with Crouch End promoter The Local, which saw her take a folk showcase to South by Southwest (SXSW) with British Underground.

She later joined British Underground permanently and managed their international artist development projects, producing music showcases across genres at SXSW, Folk Alliance International, WOMEX, The Great Escape and the Rio Olympics, as well as cultural exchange programmes in Brazil.

Katie joined the British Council's Music team in September 2017 and manages the British Council's Selector Radio show and music projects in Sub Saharan Africa.
