Sinead O'Brien for Selector Live

Sinead O'Brien establised herself as a Selector Radio favourite in 2020 with a run of sit-up-and-take-note songs featuring her unique and compelling spoken-word style inspired by the likes of The Fall's Mark E. Smith and Patti Smith. Her admirers to date include The Guardian, Loud And Quiet, The Quietus, Stereogum, BBC Radio 1, and BBC Radio 6 Music. O’Brien’s writing has also been published by the esteemed London Magazine whose alumni include T.S. Eliot, Sylvia Plath and William Burroughs.

This set was recorded specially for us as a Selector Live show which debuted at the Selector PRO online conference in Ukraine in February 2021.

Penelope Isles Live in Session

Their debut album, Until The Tide Creeps In, has been a critical smash and this session celebrates what makes this Brighton four-piece so special. Penelope Isles came down to the Selector studios in London to record ‘Leipzig’ and ‘Cut Your Hair' and both are sure to raise your spirits with solid gold pop hooks, psych guitars, soaring harmonies and the wide-eyed optimism of youth. This is the UK’s contemporary guitar-band scene at its brilliant best.

Monster Florence Live in Session

These guys had us laughing from start to finish when they came down to record their Selector session in summer 2019. Listen to 'Peepin' and 'Scum' live in the studio and enjoy Monster Florence, a six-piece alternative hip-hop act offering something truly different. They're a collective of rappers and musicians making a hybrid of hip-hop and punk with an influence of UK grime and shades of psych-rock guitar. They released their debut album, Foul, in 2018 and have been championed by the likes of broadcaster Huw Stephens and BBC Introducing.

Expect bubbling basslines, laid back grooves and exquisite soulful harmonies from this live session with Rachel Chinouriri, the 20 year old singer songwriter from Croydon. With support from BBC Introducing, she has quickly established herself as ‘one to watch’ and her subsequent singles and her EP Mama’s Boy have cemented her reputation as one of UK soul’s great rising stars.

Bryde Live in Session

Bryde is that rarest of talents - a truly gifted songwriter and vocalist whose performances demand you sit up and take notice. In this Selector Session, the Welsh songstress graces us with two intimate versions of tracks from her debut album, Like An Island.
