We support performers, composers and producers working in the artistic space where the two worlds of film and music converge. Our interest also extends to those creative people developing incredible music for computer games and other visual media and those aspiring to move into this space.
Over the past years, our work under the banner of Envision Sound has seen some of the UK's most respected TV and film composers showcase their work and share their knowledge with aspiring composers. Michael Price – perhaps best known as the composer of the theme for the BBC's Sherlock series starring Benedict Cumberbatch – has travelled with us to Vietnam, Ukraine and, in 2019, Moscow where he took composers through their paces in combination with a live string orchestra playing the students' own cues. Our Film, Archive and Music lab weeks (FAMLAB) have twice convened music and film people from around the world to explore and discuss ideas with specialists in this field in the UK. In 2017, we announced the recipients of a Film, Archive and Music Fund – six projects showcasing collaborative work between the UK and counterparts overseas. We have supported numerous film and music performances including The Seer at Supersonic Festival in the UK and a performance of Mica Levi's score for Under The Skin, Jonathan Glazer's sci-fi thriller starring Scarlett Johansson, in Kazakhstan. Going back to 2011, our support for SuperEverything*, a ground-breaking audio-visual project in Malaysia by The Light Surgeons, can be seen as a precursor to our current work in this area.
